On the eve of Republic Day, the President of India distributes Padma Awards to the civilians of India every year. These are the second highest civilian awards in India after Bharat Ratna. This year the Padma Shri for "distinguished service" have 9 nominee's coming from sports background. The beautiful part of this is that it showcases various sports categories, different states which bring in cultural diversity leading to what we believe In Republic India as being Unity in Diversity.
